Zoom's portable digital recorder, the model that put quality stereo recording in the pocket of musicians, journalists and documentary makers. Four condenser capsules in the head, with front pickup at 90°, rear at 120° or surround in 2 or 4 channels. Records WAV up to 24-bit and 96 kHz or MP3 to an SD card, runs on two AA batteries and connects by USB to a computer, where it also works as a microphone. Small screen, transport buttons and recording level on the front. Powers up and records. Suited to capturing ambiences, rehearsals and interviews with little setup, and a credible prop for a reporter, a researcher or a musician recording an idea.
