Old 4/4 violin, amber varnish
Full-size (4/4) violin of traditional construction, maker not identified. Fine-grained spruce top, two-piece flamed maple back, ebony pegs, fingerboard and tailpiece. The golden amber varnish shows the wear of an instrument with decades of use, mostly along the edges and around the tailpiece. No chinrest, which keeps it neutral for any period: on camera it reads as a family, orchestra or music-room violin from the first half of the twentieth century. Suitable for recording, for a musician on set and for set dressing.
