Vintage Wittner Maelzel wooden metronome

Mechanical pendulum metronome by Wittner, the German maker that has built the wooden Maelzel metronome since the 1950s. Pyramid case in walnut with a slide-on lid, marked with the diamond tuning-fork emblem of the brand. Yellow scale from 40 to 208 beats per minute with the tempo names printed, from Largo to Prestissimo, chrome pendulum and sliding weight, clockwork movement with a brass key on the side. The scale reads Made in W. Germany, which places it before 1990. It works: wind it, set the weight and it keeps time with the familiar tick. The metronome you expect on top of a piano, in a music classroom or in a composer's study.
